  1. For gosh sakes, listen to the context, instead of trying to play “gotcha.”

    If you read the draft of the speech and listen to the audio in context, it’s more than likely that Obama was referring to putting as much money into civilian channels as military channels to secure our nation’s defense. As in: There are diplomatic ways to try to secure America’s security that don’t necessarily require sending in the military to wage war (such as pursuing diplomatic negotiations via the State Dept.). Both military and civilian resources need to be available to achieve a comprehensive security
